Thanks to swissmiss I have found a new tumblr page that I have fallen in love with. The site is called Geometry Daily and for me is it mesmerizing. As a person who is devoting their entire thesis to the study of patterns in design, I had to stop my self from scrolling through this whole site. Another dangerous thing I just learned is that he is now selling his daily designs as prints! Anyways, here are a few of the designs but I urge you to explore this beautiful site on your own!
For my Concepts of Design Class we gathered at the Met and had a great tour of a few of the galleries from our prof., Il Kim. It was wonderful to actually see what we have been leaning and reading about.
Lotus Dome by Daan Roosegaarde and his studio is a living dome made out of hundreds of ultra-light aluminum
flowers that fold open in response to human behavior.
On their Website, the ad firm Boys and Girls states that: We are a creative agency who believe that great work comes from daringly simple ideas. This one is simple and awesome… a board room table made out of legos!
As I continue to research all things pattern related for my thesis I came across the work of Louise Despont. Her work is incredible. I had to share. I am even thinking about contacting her for an interview! I would love to hear her speak about her work. Here are some of her amazing patterns, from her website. One other wonderful aspect of her work is that she creates these incredible patterns on old ledgers. All I can think of is my grandmother and how she still uses one sometimes! mesmerizing
