I can’t wait to do this DIY project!!

Friday, December 14, 2012

As a person who loves their plastic animal/dinosaur collection I jumped for joy when I saw this blog post! I can’t wait to try this out… bring on the spray paint!

From the blog:

I’ve noticed this trend of spray painted animal toys as of late, and I must say, I’m totally on board with this type of simple and inexpensive decor.  The animals look super cute incorporated into anything from party settings to alongside books on a shelf, and the best part is that the entire process of making them yourself is relatively inexpensive. Bins of these plastic animals can be found at places like Michaels or on Amazon for cheap (here’s a tub of 60 animals for $16) and a can of gold spray paint can run under $5. They really are the perfect little festive nicknack to have around. Okay, I know what I’ll be doing this weekend!

Awesome Acme Poster on Kickstarter

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

take a look at this poster on Kickstarter… I am thinking about backing this one! Love it!!

From the website:

Tornado seeds! Giant magnets! Dynamite! Rocket powered roller skates! Anvils! Giant Rubber Bands! I spent over 100 hours illustrating, designing, and researching this one poster.

The fictional ACME Corporation appeared in nearly all 43 Coyote & Road Runner cartoons from 1949-1994. They make any product you can imagine. I’ve loved The ACME Corporation since I was a kid because they’re a true dream factory.

Making Someting New From Something Old

Monday, November 19, 2012

I came across this company via the core77 blog.

(from the blog)

Toronto-based design group Castor gets called a lot of names, especially sustainable—that S word whose egregious misuse irks us so. Not that Castor isn’t sustainable, there are just so many better ways to describe them.

As far as their actual products are concerned, we suggest descriptors like recycled, or perhaps upcycled. The short doc, Castor is French For Beaver (it is—we checked), recently made by Carling Acthim and Lana Mauro, takes a closer look at two of Castor’s best known lighting designs, the Tank Light and the Tube Light, both of which re-purpose cast off materials like old fire extinguishers and burnt out halogen tubes and turn them into hanging light fixtures whose final form is completely removed from their previous lives.

Here are some stills of their final products.
